Recommends Available On Time Friendly Professional Knowledgeable Understandable Reachable Helpful StaffIn January 2014 I experienced an out of hospital cardiac arrest in the elevator of my apartment building. My heartbeat was revived on the second AED attempt after 12 minutes of bystander CPR. I was transported to Mount Auburn Hospital. I arrived at the hospital in a Glasgow Level 5 coma. Survival for out of hospital cardiac arrest is around 5%. After the hospital confirmed that my family members supported aggressive attempts to save my life, I was transferred to the MICU and placed under Dr. Cowley's care, She oversaw a very difficult process of cooling my brain, maintaining heart rhythm and ventilation, controlling electrolytes and blood sugar, fighting infections, and much more. She was extremely supportive of my wife and communicated with sincerity with my entire family. After five days I started to emerge from my coma to my wife and family in the MICU. I am truly forever grateful, forever indebted, to Dr. Crowley for the unremittingly professional care that she and her team directed at saving my life and conserving as much brain function as possible.
