To deliver timely, patient-directed, evidence-based health care to patients with disease in the chest. I focus on lung and other thoracic tumors, esophageal cancer, and minimally invasive resections.
Following rigorous and lengthy training, thoracic surgeons are uniquely qualified to perform complex surgeries on the chest, or thorax as it is sometimes called. Their focus is usually on the lungs, esophagus, and other areas of the chest, and may also include the heart. As such, Dr. Blackmon may see patients in Minnesota for a wide range of surgeries, for example removing cancer causing tumors from the esophagus and chest wall, or even a lung transplant.
