Dr. Robert Ballard graduated from University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1980 before completing a residency in Internal Medicine at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, CO in 1983. He then completed a fellowship in Pulmonary Critical Care at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in 1984.
Dr. Ballard has one office in Colorado where he specializes in Sleep Medicine and Pulmonary Critical Care.

Sleep Medicine
Sleep medicine specialists diagnose and treat various disorders and diseases relating to sleep. This can include a range of conditions including insomnia, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, nightmares and others. Dr. Ballard utilizes a variety of diagnostic tools including screening devices, overnight sleep studies or oximeters, among many others. Treatments can include CPAP therapy, implantation of sleep devices, counseling, lifestyle modifications, and others aimed at eliminating or alleviating the symptoms of sleep conditions.

Pulmonary Critical Care
Critical care pulmonologists are trained in two closely-related areas of medicine: pulmonology & critical care. Dr. Ballard treats patients suffering from life-threatening pulmonary disorders and diseases. These may include emphysema, pneumonia, lung cancer or COPD. As a critical care specialist, Dr. Ballard is also trained to stabilize patients who are in critical condition and require mechanical ventilation.
