As an experienced pain management specialist, Randa Jaafar, MD, is changing the lives of Midtown East, New York area residents who deal with chronic pain at New York Medicine Doctors. A native of Detroit, Dr. Jaafar also began her medical career in the Motor City as a student at Wayne State University School of Medicine. From there, she interned in anesthesiology at Case Western University in Cleveland. While studying under her mentor, Dr. Salim Hayek, Dr. Jaafar discovered her passion for pain management. Since then, she completed a fellowship at Cornell University in Manhattan before going to practice as an anesthesiology and pain medicine attendee at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.
In her private practice, Dr. Jaafar believes in thinking outside the box when it comes to pain management and frequently integrates new techniques as part of her services. She relies on both her years of experience and the most recent quality clinical research data available when selecting the most appropriate interventions for her patients. Dr. Jaafar specifically prides herself in weaning her pain patients off of narcotic painkillers safely and comfortably. She has also recently adopted medical marijuana prescribing for patients with cancer pain who qualify under the New York medical marijuana program.
