Dr. Peter Gill joined our North Shore practice in 2016. Dr. Gill earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed his surgical residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland in 1987. After separating from active duty in the U.S. Navy, he joined a Brown University affiliated practice in Pawtucket and Providence, Rhode Island practicing there for over 25 years. He was also the Surgeon in Chief at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island from years 2012 to 2016.
Dr. Gill has been board certified by the American Board of Surgery since 1987. His interests include laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, and surgical oncology.
Dr. Gill was the pioneer in laparoscopic hernia surgery in Rhode Island. He started the first dedicated Hernia Center in New England, specializing in all types of abdominal wall defects, and advanced abdominal wall reconstruction utilizing minimally invasive techniques.

As a general surgeon in Massachusetts, Dr. Gill performs a range of of surgeries and operations, usually focusing on areas and organs of the abdomen and their related organs. Dr. Gill may utilize invasive or minimally-invasive surgical techniques, with the latter reducing recovery time and stress on the patient's body.
