Dr. Nana Kwame Asiedu-Ofei was born in Ghana,West Africa. His middle name “Kwame” means Saturday born.Nana Kwame Asiedu-Ofei decided on medicine and got into one of two medical schools in Ghana based on a value that was instilled in him during his childhood.-‘ A life lived serving others is a life worth living.”Finishing medical school Dr. Nana Kwame Asiedu-Ofei worked in some of the most rural and underserved populations in Ghana where his passion was.For him pediatrics was the only specialty where you could actually have fun with your patients while working at the same time.Most importantly Dr. Nana Kwame Asiedu-Ofei believed the most significant health impact you could make on a human being was through the formative years of childhood through adolescence. To him healthcare is not only the physical well being but also the emotional,mental and physical well being of an individual. Dr. Nana Kwame Asiedu-Ofei is a strong advocate of preventive medicine and believes wholeheartedly in nipping potential chronic diseases in the bud before adulthood.Before specializing in Pediatrics, Dr. Nana Kwame Asiedu-Ofei did a masters in business administration at the University of Northern Virginia as he strongly believed the 21st century physician should be equipped with strong leadership and managerial skills. Dr. Nana Kwame Asiedu-Ofei did his pediatric residency at the Mount Sinai Childrens Hospital also an underserved population on the west side of Chicago.Dr. Nana Kwame Asiedu-Ofei has a strong passion in mental health and and worked as a mental health practitioner prior to residency.He has a keen interest in the evaluation,diagnosis and management of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorders. About 1 out of 10 children in the United States have ADHD and he sees no reason why a treatable condition should impair school performance and ultimately their academic potential. Dr. Nana Kwame Asiedu-Ofei also has a strong passion in the management of Asthma, Developmental Disorders and follow up care of foster children.
