Dr. Root is a Co-Founder of Innovative Pain and Spine Physicians, whose mission is finding the root cause of your pain and treating it appropriately with compassion in order to reduce your pain and maximize your functional capacity. The best of both worlds, Dr. Root is both a physician and a physical therapist. As a result, he embodies a comprehensive and intimate knowledge of the kinesiology, anatomy, and musculoskeletal function of the body, and can determine the most helpful modalities and rehabilitative exercises to help you decrease your pain and restore your function. Dr. Root is a fellow of the American Academy of PM&R, and specializes in performing Electrodiagnostic (EMG/NCS) studies, which is a diagnostic tool for the following conditions: radiculopathies (pinched nerves in the back & neck), compression neuropathies, and peripheral neuropathies. In addition, Dr. Root is skilled in joint injection therapies, and fluoroscopic spine injection therapies including epidural, facet, and nerve blocks, as well as disrupting the nerve’s ability to send pain signals through a radiofrequency ablation or neuromodulation (spinal cord or peripheral nerve stimulation).
Pain management doctors specialize in caring for patients who are dealing with chronic pain, whether resulting from injury, disease, or otherwise. Dr. Root creates customized pain management plans for patients that may include therapy, medication management, or minimally invasive procedures. When creating a customized pain management plan, Dr. Root will evaluate the patient and their medical history, in addition to performing tests to arrive at a precise diagnosis.
