At Southwest Dermatology Center, Dr. Martin Safko and his highly-skilled team offer medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology services to patients in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Safko has been been practicing dermatology in Las Vegas since 1986 and serves as the medical director of Southwest Dermatology Center. Dr. Safko is a well trained and experienced Mohs surgeon, having trained with Dr. Frederic Mohs, the developer of the technique. Mohs is a specialized skin cancer removal method, achieving the highest attainable cure rate. After receiving a grant from the United States Department of Energy, Dr. Safko collaborated with scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory to produce one of the world’s first erbium skin-resurfacing lasers. The device is a specialized type of laser that uses the element erbium to produce a light energy that rejuvenates wrinkled or mildly scarred skin. Dr. Safko received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and did his internal medicine internship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
