She received multiple awards in the fields of surgery and dermatology including the prestigious leadership award from the American Medical Association. Dr. Talakoub completed her internal medicine residency at Stanford University and her dermatology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, which is one of the leading dermatology programs in the country. Prior to starting her own practice, she served in the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General.

She is the Associate Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University and serves on the board of DC Children’s Hospital. She is affiliated with numerous professional societies including Women's Dermatologic Society, American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Talakoub is also a columnist for Dermatology News and formerly worked with ABC News as their medical writer. She is regularly featured in the press as an expert in her field and is a frequent guest on local and national television networks. Dr. Talakoub contributes to publications such as Health.com, InStyle, Brides, Shape, Parenting, Self and more. She has been named a "Top Doctor" and "Top Dermatologist" in Washington Parent since she founded her practice, McLean Dermatology and Skincare Center, in 2009 as well as in Northern Virginia Magazine, where she was named a "Top Doctor" every year since 2011.

Dr. Talakoub's special interests include ethnic skincare, medical and cosmetic dermatology, and dermatologic surgery. In 2010, she co-founded LANARI Skincare, a dermatologist-developed brand that uses a proprietary blend of naturally sourced medical-grade ingredients, a first of its kind specifically made for all skin types.

She is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of all adult and pediatric skin disorders, skin cancer surgery and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Talakoub is sought out for her ability to make tasteful improvements; her understanding of facial symmetry aligns with her belief that subtle enhancements are much more beautiful than dramatic modifications. Dr. Lily is passionate about what she does and treats each case with care to ensure every patient receives the attention they deserve.
