Healthcare the way it was meant to be, where the health, well being, and interest of my patients, not the healthcare industry, comes first.

Bio

Born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, to parents who taught at both the primary and collegiate level, I learned at an early age the importance of a good education. I was encouraged to find my passion, and to approach it with enthusiasm and hard work. After spending time observing my own family physician treat and care for all aspects of health for his patients, I determined that medicine, specifically family medicine, was where I wanted my education and career path to lead.

After obtaining a BS in Biology from Lubbock Christian University, I attended The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, graduating in 1990. I then moved to Austin for residency training with Central Texas Medical Foundation, where I was able to develop the clinical skills and insight to patient care needed to practice the full range of Family Medicine. It was at this time I met my wife, Kris and I have remained in Austin ever since.

As a primary care physician in Austin for twenty-three years, I have experienced the changing landscape of medicine in various forms. In today’s health care system, the interests of the individual patient are lost in the increasingly complex business aspects of the healthcare industry. The ability to manage health issues in a personalized way is becoming more difficult in this volume driven system. All patients, including myself, want to be treated by a caring physician who is committed to our individual health. This is why I am excited about the change in my practice, so I will be better able to provide attentive medicine and personalized care, while promoting wellness.

My work entails not only the medical aspect of patient care, but also the personal aspect of interacting with patients, staff and colleagues, teaching medical students, volunteer work with the Volunteer Health Clinic, and medical missions. When not working, I enjoy running, reading and spending time with my wife and children in their activities and interests.
