Dr. Jonathan Kagan is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who has been practicing in the Metropolitan New York area for over twenty-five years. He graduated from Brown University in 1964 and went on to New York Medical College where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1969. He completed his Ophthalmic and surgical training at the US Public Health Service, The Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University, and The Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Kagan has since served as the Chief of Ophthalmology at the Jewish Memorial Hospital and Assistant Clinical Professor at the New York Medical College. He is currently on staff at Lenox Hill Hospital and St. Johns Riverside Hospital.
From the beginning of his career in private practice, Dr. Kagan has been at the forefront of medical research and has authored several published works. He was one of the first Ophthalmologists in the New York area to make available in office laser surgery for Glaucoma and Diabetes and has continued to utilize the most innovative and up to date technologies available.
Dr. Kagan's professional memberships include The American Academy of Ophthalmology, the New York County Medical Society and the New York State Ophthalmological Society.

As an ophthalmologist in NY, Dr. Jonathan Kagan is trained to diagnose, treat, and manage diseases or trauma of the eye. Dr. Kagan may treat conditions such as glaucoma, corneal tumors, cataracts, retinal disorders, conjunctivitis, astigmatism and ocular tumors. Treatments may include the prescription of medication or surgeries such as corrective surgery (e.g. LASIK), cataract surgery, or glaucoma surgery.
