John M. Robertson, MD, FACS, is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and an active member of several other surgical organizations. Dr. Robertson has been the Director of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Saint John’s Health Center since 1993 and previously served as President of the Medical Staff and Chairman of the Department of Surgery and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees.
He has been extensively involved in numerous research studies in the field of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery and presently serves on eight Medical Staff Committees at Saint John’s. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Transfusion Committee at Saint John’s and is directing the hospital’s effort in reducing inappropriate blood utilization and, henceforth, improving patients’ outcomes and safety. Dr. Robertson was recently named Chair Elect of Saint John’s Foundation Board of Trustees. When he assumes his role, he will be only the third physician in the 38-year history of the Foundation to hold the position.
