John H. Burke, MD, FACC, FHRS specializes in heart rhythm disorders at Consultants in Cardiology & Electrophysiology in Chicago, Illinois. He welcomes patients with cardiac disease at the group’s Oak Lawn and Palos Heights offices, where his areas of expertise include transesophageal echocardiograms, ablations, defibrillator management, and pacemaker insertion and maintenance, including implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.
Dr. Burke completed his undergraduate degree and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Chicago, where he graduated with honors and was elected to two honor societies: Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha.
After completing his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago, he received his fellowship training in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at Northwestern University. While at Northwestern, he was awarded a junior research fellowship from the Chicago Heart Association. Since entering private practice, he has published research on gender differences in heart rate and the QT interval and presented abstracts at national cardiology meetings.
