Dr. Joel Juarez-Uribe has been practicing for over 38 years in Chula Vista, CA. He graduated with his medical degree with Honors from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City. He then went on to complete his residency in internal medicine from the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. Finally he completed his cardiology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine, where he trained under renowned cardiologist Dr. J. Willis Hurst (former cardiologist of U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson and author of The Heart - often referred to as the bible of cardiology). Dr. Juarez-Uribe proceeded to work at Alvarado Hospital, Chula Vista Community Hospital (today Sharp Chula Vista), Scripps Mercy Chula Vista Hospital, and finally Paradise Valley Hospital where he served as Chief of Cardiology for 10 years.
In 1987, Dr. Juarez-Uribe Co-Founded the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Sharp Chula Vista. He served as Chairmen of Cardiology at Sharp Chula Vista and Co-Chairmen of Cardiac Surgery together with Dr. Jose Hernandez, Thoracic and Cardiac Surgeon. In 1990, Dr. Juarez-Uribe concentrated most of his work between Scripps and Sharp Chula Vista. In 2012, Dr. Juarez-Uribe began to focus his efforts to solely in-patient services at his practice in Chula Vista. Cardiology Medical Clinic of Chula Vista specializes in Primary Care, Internal Medicine, and Preventative Medicine.
