Bio


Jaime S. Schwartz MD is Board Certified in plastic surgery and a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Schwartz earned a bachelor degree in cellular and molecular biology from Tulane University, and went on to attend Georgetown University School of Medicine, the 5th most selective medical school in the US. While pursuing his medical degree, he furthered his expertise in breast cancer care by studying tumor biology and the molecular basis of cancer at the Lombardi Cancer Center, designated by the National Cancer Institute.

Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. Schwartz was accepted into the prestigious integrated plastic surgery training program at Georgetown University Hospital after scoring in the top 3% in the United States on the medical licensing examination. The Department of Plastic Surgery is internationally recognized for expertise in breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery under the leadership of Dr. Scott Spear (past president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and editor of the breast section of the Plastic and Reconstructive Journal) and Dr. Maurice Nahabedian (current editor of the breast section of the Plastic and Reconstructive Journal). Dr. Schwartz went on to accept a fellowship in facial and body aesthetic surgery at the nationally ranked Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Schwartz's work has appeared in several journals and educational textbooks, including the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Surgery of the Breast: Principles and Art, and Smith and Nesi's Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Recognized for his expertise in breast reconstruction surgery, Dr. Schwartz was one of 10 plastic surgeons in the country invited to develop national guidelines for techniques using tissue expanders and implants for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Schwartz is committed to promoting advances in medicine, and serves on various American Society of Plastic Surgeons committees, including Health Policy, Emerging Trends, Quality and Performance Measurement and the Clinical Trials Network.

Dr. Schwartz remains on the cutting edge of technology and innovative medicine through his active involvement in FDA-approved clinical trials. He is currently developing new techniques in breast reconstruction surgery aimed at decreasing pain and recovery time for women.

Dr. Schwartz is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
