Dr. Rose's goal is to provide exceptional orthopedic shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand care in a prompt, efficient, pleasant, and compassionate environment.
Dr. Rose is an orthopedic surgeon in Austin, Texas specializing in treating shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand problems. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with honors. Following college, Dr. Rose joined the United States Navy where he served five years as a Submarine Officer and nuclear engineer. Dr. Rose is a graduate of the Navy’s Nuclear Power School and has found his background as an engineer to be immensely helpful in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.
After leaving the Navy, Dr. Rose attended Harvard Medical School. He then completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Rose completed his surgical training with a fellowship covering Hand, Wrist, Elbow, and Shoulder Surgery at the University of Washington – Seattle.
Dr. Rose has extensive experience treating orthopaedic disorders, particularly of the upper extremity. He has gained this experience at some of the best hospitals in the United States, Hermann Hospital in Houston, and Harborview Hospital in Seattle. He has also worked at three Children’s hospitals and specializes in treating congenital disorders of the hand and upper extremity.
Dr. Rose is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and enjoys treating all common orthopaedic disorders. His specific areas of interest and expertise include treatment of hand, wrist, and elbow trauma and arthritis, and microvascular reconstruction of traumatic extremity injuries. Dr. Rose also has an interest in minimally invasive procedures such as percutaneous needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytren’s Disease, percutaneous trigger finger release, and endoscopic carpal tunnel release.
Dr. Rose served as the Chair of the Department of Surgery at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center from 2012 until 2018. He currently is a Member of the Board of Directors for the Travis County Medical Society and served on the Travis County Medical Society Board of Ethics from 2016 to 2018.
Dr. Rose has been named a Texas Monthly SuperDoctor in 2015, 2016, 2017.
Dr. Rose has had the goal of returning to Austin, Texas since he graduated from UT Austin. Dr. Rose is very happy to be a part of the Austin, Texas community with his wife and three children.
