About Dr. George Welch

George Welch, MD, FACC moved from Portland, Maine, to join our practice. He is an experienced and detail-oriented cardiologist specializing in non-invasive cardiology. He is certified in cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Welch received his M.D. from the University of Vermont, where he graduated at the top of his class, and completed his internship and medical residency at Harvard University. He also has experience working with Beth Israel Hospital, Brockton VA Hospital, Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute and Boston University Medical Center.

More recently, Dr. Welch taught at Columbia University Medical Center, where he had an adjunct faculty appointment as a Clinical Instructor in Medicine. Additionally, he has contributed 20 articles and research, including a publication in the New England Journal of Medicine. He is an expert on novel risk factors causing heart attacks and has delivered several national lectures on the topic. Dr. Welch has been honored with the Award of Excellence in Medicine by the University of Vermont and is a recipient of the Alpha Omega Alpha Award.

He has 16 years of private practice experience, and has been described by his patients as pleasant, professional, warm, caring and amazing.

In his spare time, Dr. Welch enjoys reading, hiking, skiing and running marathons.
