Dr. Starkman is the Medical Director and founder of New York Neurology Associates PC. He is Board Certified in Neurology with a subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine. Dr. Starkman is an Active Member of American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Pain Medicine, International Spine Intervention Society, and American Society of Neuroimaging. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Columbia University Medical Center, and a Clinical Attending at Beth Israel Medical Center.
Dr. Starkman was trained at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Medical Center, and has been practicing Neurology and Pain Medicine since 1996. He has implemented many new cutting edge approved therapies for various neurological and chronic painful conditions in his practice.
Dr. Starkman was one of the pioneers who started to use Botox in chronic pain management, and one of the first doctors in New York who started to use radiofrequency ablation treatment for chronic spine joints ( facet joints ) pain. He was also one of the first 67 Neurologists in the USA who were trained and became Board certified in subspecialty of Pain Medicine, and has remained one of 33 such specialists in New York State as of 2013.
Dr. Gary Starkman identifies and treats various neurological conditions, coming from issues in the brain and spinal cord. Dr. Starkman may order tests & scans to arrive at the correct diagnosis, which is needed for arranging an appropriate treatment plan for patients. Treatments can involve medication management, multiple therapies, or lifestyle changes, among others.
Pain management doctors specialize in caring for patients who are dealing with chronic pain, whether resulting from injury, disease, or otherwise. Dr. Starkman creates customized pain management plans for patients that may include therapy, medication management, or minimally invasive procedures.
