Dr. Essam Mostafa is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He combines an Egyptian background with knowledge and technical expertise that he acquired through years of training at Cairo University Medical School, and Medical College of Virginia.
Dr. Mostafa has worked in private practice in Cairo and Indiana. In June of 2012, Dr. Mostafa joined Orange County Kidney as the newest addition to our group of Nephrologists. As a past Medical Director of a dialysis unit for many years, Dr. Mostafa is very knowledgeable regarding dialysis and End Stage Renal Disease. Dr. Mostafa continually takes courses, attends seminars and stays involved in the community in order to stay on top of medical advances and changes in healthcare.
Dr. Essam Mostofa is known to have excellent bedside manner because of his compassionate and caring approach with his patients. Our Arabic speaking patients find comfort in knowing that Dr. Mostafa is fluent in Arabic and can conduct their consultation in their language. Outside of the work environment, Dr. Mostafa loves to travel and enjoy time with his wife and kids.

As a nephrologist in California, Dr. Mostafa diagnoses, treats, and manages diseases and complications affecting your kidneys. These may include kidney stones, chronic kidney disease, renal failure, chronic urinary tract infections, and other disorders that affect the kidneys. When a patient's condition is serious enough to cause kidney failure, Dr. Mostafa may be responsible for managing the dialysis process.
The specialty of internal medicine is an area of primary care for adults. Dr. Mostafa specializes in diagnosing and treating cross-system illnesses that may affect multiple organ systems. Dr. Mostafa can also refer patients to specialist physicians when medically needed.
