Dr. Rapp graduated from Duke University in 1981 with a degree in BioMedical Engineering. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University in 1985, and then completed his postgraduate residency training in Phoenix. Upon completing his medical training, Dr. Rapp served the US Air Force for five years and then moved to Greenwood, SC, where he has practiced since 1995. Dr. Rapp opened the office of Premier Surgical Services, PA in Greenwood in September of 2003 which provided the community with a surgical practice offering weight loss surgery options in addition to a full range of general surgery options. This is the first practice with a dedication to bariatric surgery in the six county area of Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Abbeville, McCormick, and Saluda counties. In 2010, Dr. Rapp opened an office of Premier Surgical Services, PA in Aiken, offering bariatric surgery in that area as well. Throughout his practice experience, Dr. Rapp continues to expand his surgical knowledge through training and new technology. He completed a Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery Preceptorship Program in 2004, and a Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding Surgeon?s Training & Proctoring Program in 2006. Dr. Rapp was the first surgeon in South Carolina to perform many advanced robotic techniques during his procedures, including the use of Aesop robotics, and the completion of gallbladder removal and gastric procedures with full robotics. He was also the first in the Greenwood area to perform laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and adjustable gastric banding surgeries. Dr. Rapp is Board Certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery (ABS). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgery (ACS), a Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS), and a Member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
