Dr. Pinto is a specialist in cardiac diseases. He is board certified in cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine and endovascular medicine. He received his B.A., cum Laude, from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and M.D. degree from the Georgetown University, cum Laude and Alpha Omega Alpha. He has degree in advanced statistical methodology from the Harvard School of Public Health. He was an Intern, Resident, Cardiology Fellow and Interventional Cardiology Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, MA where he also served as the Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Pinto is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and serves as the Director of the General Cardiology Fellowship Program and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School. He serves on the editorial board or as a reviewer for JAMA, NEJM, JACC and Circulation. Dr. Pinto’s research focus is in outcomes and health policy research related to acute coronary syndromes.
Dr. Pinto has an active general and interventional cardiology practice. He performs coronary, peripheral and structural heart intervention to including transeptal catheterization, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and percutaneous circulatory assist devices. As an acknowledged technical expert in complex interventional procedures, he has been invited to participate in complex cases and to help train local experts specific interventional techniques in places such as Egypt, Vietnam, and China.
He is one of a handful of interventional cardiologists who have been selected to be a national training proctor for the CoreValve transcatheter aortic valve. Interventional procedures performed include recanalization of coronary and peripheral chronic total occlusions, treatment of bifurcation disease in STEMI, pulmonic disease, mitral valvuloplasty, rotational atherectomy, and PDA closure.
