Once you have chosen cosmetic surgery, choosing the right plastic surgeon becomes a matter of great importance.
I am proud to say that I am a board-certified plastic surgeon, which means I have met stringent certification and training requirements that ensure my patients the very best results. Moreover, my diverse surgical experience enables me to choose procedures and techniques to best suit each patient. If you are looking for a plastic surgeon in the Sacramento area, I encourage you to contact me.
At your personal cosmetic surgery consultation with me, we will talk about your areas of concern and develop a plan to meet your goals. We will review the procedure in detail, go over expected results, and answer all your questions.
After your consultation, you will have a thorough understanding of your options. You’ll never feel rushed to make a decision, and we’re always available for follow up questions. If you choose to proceed with a surgical procedure, I will personally be with you for every step of the process.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where I earned a bachelor of science degree in systems engineering. I graduated from the academy with distinction, the highest academic honor.
Following graduation, I moved to Coronado, California, and reported to Basic Underwater Demolition School (BUDS), also known as Navy SEAL training. After graduating with Class 156, I was assigned to SEAL Team 5. As an active duty naval special warfare officer, I served four busy and exciting years, including duty in Operation Desert Storm. It was my privilege to serve our great nation and I am most proud of this personal achievement.
I then attended Harvard Medical School, receiving my medical doctor degree in 1996. My surgical training in a combined general and plastic surgery residency was conducted at Stanford University Medical Center.
Following the completion of my residency, I served as the Interplast Jerome P. Webster Fellow. Interplast is a non-profit organization based in Mountain View, California, that provides plastic and reconstructive surgery to needy children and adults in the developing world. I have participated in over 20 surgical overseas missions and have performed operations on more than 500 patients in this capacity.
Since completing my residency and fellowship in plastic surgery, I have been in a very busy practice of both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. I have had the honor of being the director of the Regional Burn Unit at Valley Medical Center and serving on the volunteer clinical faculty at Stanford University Medical Center. I am also proud to be a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
In 2005, largely for family reasons, I moved my practice to the Sacramento area and have fallen in love with the community and the wonderful patients that I have had the privilege to treat.
My wife Kate (formerly Shallenberger), sons Trevor and Grant, daughter Ava and I live in El Dorado Hills. Our outside interests include athletics, travel, and volunteer work.
Plastic surgeons perform a wide variety of surgeries that can restore or correct the form and function of the human body, which can be either cosmetic or reconstructive in nature. Dr. Kaufman is able to correct abnormalities of the body that may be causing adverse health effects, or perform surgeries to correct malformations caused by birth defects, trauma, tumors or disease. He also performs elective surgeries, which patients undergo to improve the aesthetic appearance of a certain body part.
