This office sends patients surveys via email and when they do not like the response - they have their office manager punish the patient by saying the patient is no longer wanted at their practice, this is unprofessional. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. Also when I asked for my records (I have a long history at that clinic) I was told the records were destroyed. Their personnel have complained about there employer (over worked, not compensated etc) this is in poor taste, they are never on time, yet there is an expectation for patients to be on time. I was honest when they sent me their survey - too bad they didn't take my remarks and use them to improve their practice. By giving me the boot and turning me away they have proven they are not up to honest opinions and they are immature.

Dr. Davis’s reply: We have terminated two patients from our practice that I know of in the almost 4 years I have been here. We have sent out literally thousands of surveys. Repeated screaming, cursing, and verbally abusing our staff members is something we can't tolerate and would prevent good patient care also. That is a reason for termination. It always will be.

About Dr. Davis
Dr. Davis

Bio

Born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma, Dr. Davis attended Oklahoma State University on a National Merit Scholarship and graduated with dual degrees in Radiation and Nuclear Technology and in Botany in the honors program. He then attended the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in the US Navy Health Professions Scholarship program, along with classmate and future senator Tom Coburn.

Dr. Davis’s navy career spanned 21 years, including 2 years at sea, graduating as valedictorian at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute and serving 5 years as a Naval Flight Surgeon. He completed the navy ophthalmology residency done at Stanford and at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, and served as chief resident. Subsequently he established the first military refractive surgery program in the southeastern region, treating  active duty military special forces, SEALs, pilots, and aircrew. He helped write the Navy correct site surgery program, and set up a residency training program in cooperation with the University of Florida, helping train approximately 45 future ophthalmologists.  Dr Davis retired from the navy as a captain in 2005, having been decorated 16 times in his career.

Dr. David A. Davis is 3 times board-certified with written board scores at the 93rd percentile of all ophthalmologists. He has worked in Colorado Springs since 2012 and has participated in multiple research studies here in Colorado, recently serving as a principal investigator in 2 clinical trials leading to FDA approval of the new glaucoma drop “rhopressa”. He has always loved teaching, and has in the past received several awards for teaching ophthalmology to family practice resident as well as being recognized by the Illinois College of Optometry for helping educate their students and teaching orbital anatomy at the Navy PA school.

Dr Davis belongs to multiple organizations including the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, the 999 society, the Volunteer Optometrists in Service to Humanity (as token Ophthalmologist), and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Fellow of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Medicine (London).

Dr. Davis has now accomplished a lifetime goal of living in the Rockies. He loves camping and hiking in the Colorado outdoors with his wife, Cindy, often while carrying his elderly Pomeranian.  His goal of climbing a 14’er every year on his birthday takes longer each year but still applies. He enjoys Japanese swords and antiques. He also loves travel, going on mission trips with VOSH, visiting his children in varied locations in the US and visiting his daughter, son-in-law and first grandchild who live at Yokosuka Naval Station in Japan.

Dr. Davis listens to his patients. He believes every person should be treated with respect.  He believes people who have problems need good communication from their doctor to insure their needs are addressed and their questions answered, in order to provide the most effective healthcare possible. He is very pleased to be joining the Haas Vision Center where state-of-the-art treatment while maintaining a patient-centered philosophy is paramount,  thanks to the longstanding commitment of Dr. Haas to this same ”patient comes first” philosophy.
