Dr. Valdez is a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He received the doctor of medicine degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

After medical school, Dr. Valdez completed his residency training in orthopaedic surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Valdez is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and completed his 10 year recertification; he is current with the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process.

Dr. Valdez has a special interest in total hip replacement (direct anterior approach)total knee replacement, shoulder arthroscopy, and knee arthroscopy.

Dr. Valdez specializes in Workers Compensation and Occupational Work Injuries.  He is a Designated Doctor for the State of Texas and is current with the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment 4th and 6th Edition.

Dr. Valdez was named in SA Scene's list of SA Doctors: Best of 2014.
