Daniel B. Robertson, M.D., specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He attended college at the University of Texas in Austin, and completed medical school and orthopedic residency at the University of Texas School of Medicine in Houston. He is fellowship trained in arthroscopy and sports medicine, having completed a Knee and Sports Medicine Research Fellowship at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Robertson has an extensive sports medical background. In San Diego, he maintained a private practice specializing in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. He was a team physician for the San Diego Chargers (NFL), the San Diego Sockers (indoor soccer), and the San Diego Gulls (hockey). He also provided medical care for PGA golf events. He was an Associate Clinical Professor at UCSD where he trained medical students, orthopedic residents and orthopedic fellows. He has written articles on injury prevention and sports medicine for publication, and lectured in the U.S. and Europe about arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery.

Dr. Robertson is a native Texan and he returned to his home state in 1995, relocating his family and his practice to Fredericksburg. He continued his interest in sports medicine by working with USA Olympic teams at their training facility in Colorado Springs, and at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada. Shortly after arriving in Fredericksburg, he started a Saturday morning sports injury clinic modeled after work he’d done with the San Diego Chargers. To stay safe and game-ready, NFL players needed to have timely access to injury evaluations and treatment, and Dr. Robertson believed hill country athletes would benefit from the same service. This clinic, now located at HCM, continues to provide athletes with access to professional injury evaluations at no cost, and low-cost diagnostic testing.

Dr. Robertson is a member of AAOS American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, AOSSM American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, AANA Arthroscopic Association of North America, AMA American Medical Society, TOA Texas Orthopaedic Association, TSMA Texas Sports Medical Association and NFLPA National Football League Physician Association.
