Dr. Chung, who is a native of Manhattan, Kansas, has been happy to call Birmingham her home since 1989. She is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She also holds a Masters of Public Health degree in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed her Internship in Pediatrics at Emory University, then her Residency in Pediatrics and a 3-Year Fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at UAB where she was extensively trained in the treatment of allergies and asthma in both adults and children. It was at UAB and The Children’s Hospital of Alabama that she and Dr. Carol Smith first met while going through their fellowship training together. Dr. Chung currently serves as the Vice-President of the Alabama Society of Allergy & Immunology. Dr. Chung is a Diplomate of The American Board of Pediatrics, as well as The American Board of Allergy and Immunology, making her Board Certified to treat both pediatric and adults in allergy, asthma and immunologic problems. She loves taking care of the family unit and educating kids and adults about their allergies, asthma, recurrent respiratory infections and eczema, then teaching them how to protect their long-term respiratory health for future years, while improving their quality of life in ways they had no idea was even possible. When she and her husband are not busy at work, they are very active in their two daughters’ schools and facilitating them to pursue their own dreams.

Dr. Chung is listed among Birmingham’s “Super Doctors”, a program that identifies top doctors as selected by their peers and the independent research of Key Professional Media.
