Dr. Christopher DiBlasio, M.D. is board-certified in urology/urologic surgery. He specializes in minimally-invasive, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, prostate laser surgery, and prostate and kidney cryoablation. Further, he has extensive experience in female prolapse and incontinence repair, stone surgery, urologic cancer treatment, cosmetics and reconstruction, trauma, pediatric urology, and transplantation. In 2012, he was appointed the Chief of Urology at Huntington Hospital.
Prior to joining the North Shore Medical Group/Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, "Dr. Chris" completed his internship (general surgery/trauma) and residency training in urology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, as well as a research fellowship in urologic oncology at New York's renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. DiBlasio serves as the only center of excellence for holmium-laser based prostate surgery (HOLAP/HOLEP: holmium laser ablation/enucleation of the prostate) in the tri-state area. He serves as a proctor and preceptor for HOLAP/HOLEP, as well as for prostate and kidney cryosurgery. He is also designated as a regional training center for kidney and prostate cryosurgery.
Dr. DiBlasio serves as a board member for the COLD registry, a panel of thought-leaders in the field of cryosurgery. Additionally, he is a active member of both the medical advisory board and peer review committee for Allied Metropolitan Medical, LLC. He is a member of the SCIP and cancer committees at Huntington Hospital and holds active positions at the Icahn School of Medicine, University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, and Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
To date, he has published 37 peer-reviewed articles, 84 abstracts and presented 39 times at national and sectional meetings of the American Urological Association, Society of Urologic Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is currently a co-lead investigator for a cryosurgery clinical trial and continues to publish research from his clinical practice. He is a member of the national and New York sections of the American Urological Association, UROPAC, Society of Endourology, New York State Urological Society, Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), and the American Association of Clinical Urologists.
