Dr. Christine Gonzales is a board-certified vitreo-retinal physician and surgeon. She completed her medical school at the University of California, San Francisco (ranked #2 in the nation) and her ophthalmology residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (ranked #1 in the nation). Her vitreo-retinal fellowship training was completed at UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute where she subsequently joined the faculty and was promoted to Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Fellowship Director. She has over 50 publications of her work in areas includeing macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, and vitreoretinal surgery. She continues to be actively involved in clinical research and presents at national and international meetings. Her primary interest, however, is to provide excellent, compassionate care to her patients.
As an ophthalmologist in OR, Dr. Christine Gonzales is trained to diagnose, treat, and manage diseases or trauma of the eye. Dr. Gonzales may treat conditions such as glaucoma, corneal tumors, cataracts, retinal disorders, conjunctivitis, astigmatism and ocular tumors. Treatments may include the prescription of medication or surgeries such as corrective surgery (e.g. LASIK), cataract surgery, or glaucoma surgery.
