Dr. Carrie Mousseau, MD joined NaturalStart Medicine in 2018 as an internal medicine physician who has worked for over 15 years incorporating alternative medicine with mainstream medical practice. She specializes in gastroenterology and food intolerances, hormone replacement, preventive and chronic disease management, general medicine, and prolotherapy. She is affectionately known by her patients as "Dr. Carrie".
Dr. Carrie received her allopathic medical training at New York Medical College, and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Kaiser Permanente, Santa Clara. Prior to this, she received her undergraduate Bachelors of Science degree in Genetics at UC Davis. Dr. Carrie enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary practitioners to improve her patients' total health. Addressing the "whole patient" is a fundamental tenet Dr. Carrie has always insisted on.
Dr. Carrie enjoys collaborating with Dr. Fong, ND to address the medical needs for the clinic, and supporting the different modalities offered at NaturalStart Medicine. Trained in adult medicine, but comfortable with pediatrics from her prior work experience, she will see patients of all ages for acute/urgent care and to follow chronic conditions or as a out of network 'primary care physician'.
Please note that Dr. Carrie does not retain hospital privileges nor will she be available for on-call services outside the usual clinic hours (unless temporarily prearranged to follow acute illnesses). It is important to keep access to a hospital linked primary care physician for emergencies.
She looks forward to treating chronic lax ligaments, tendons, and joints with dextrose based prolotherapy. She has 15 years of experience. Please see our website for more information on prolotherapy.
As an internist in Mountain View, CA, Dr. Carrie Mousseau serves as a primary care provider for adults. She diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions, including cross-system illnesses that may affect multiple organic systems. Dr. Mousseau may also refer patients to a specialist when required. For example, patients with diabetic complications may be referred to an endocrinologist for further treatment.
Specializing in the field of functional medicine, Dr. Mousseau focuses on the underlying causes of disease, as opposed to simply treating symptoms as they arise. Functional medicine doctors often focus their efforts on preventive measures, ensuring patients are less likely to contract illnesses or conditions. Dr. Mousseau typically work to develop a close, therapeutic relationship with patients, taking many aspects of a patient’s life into consideration when providing care.
Preventive medicine doctors specialize in predictive and preventive medicine. Dr. Mousseau is trained to educate and work side-by-side with patients to help them make choices resulting in a healthy lifestyle. This can include sticking to a nutritious diet and regular exercise regimen for optimal health. Preventive medicine can have a great effect on a patient's health by preempting future illnesses or diseases due to a healthy lifestyle and conscientious medical care.
