I have worked with patients who suffer from chronic pain and addiction since 2000.

Many chronic pain patients are on high doses of pain medications and find that either they no longer work (tolerance) or their pain may even become worse (hyperalgesia).  If so, you may benefit from switching to a different type of medication, or detoxing off your pain medications altogether!  Although this is frightening at first, medical research shows that 75% of chronic pain patients do better.

Addiction is an often fatal disease that can involve dependence on opioids (prescription pain pills), alcohol, cocaine, sedatives, and more.  Treatment may involve medication assisted therapy (buprenorphine, naltrexone), 12 step recovery (AA/NA) or residential treatment.  If medications are used, it is important not to rely on them alone!  We can perform an addiction assessment, make recommendations for treatment, and coordinate your care.
