Byron H. Willis, MD, FAANS, is the founder and president of Arizona Neurosurgery & Spine Specialists, with locations in Phoenix, Peoria, and Mesa, Arizona. Beginning his career earning a bachelor of science in electrical engineering at Columbia University in New York City, Dr. Willis added a master of science in biomedical engineering through Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Completing a neurosurgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Willis received special training in complex spinal disorders there, as well as additional specialization in cerebrovascular disorders and intracranial tumors during a one-year fellowship at Derriford Hospital, England. With particular interests in cerebrovascular disorders, complex spine surgery, neurotrauma, and tumors, Dr. Willis also serves as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery and the Chairman of the Division of Neurosciences at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and licensed by the Arizona Medical Board, Dr. Willis is proud that ANSS is the oldest neurosurgical practice in Arizona.
