Dr. Bruce Stevens received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin (formerly Marquette University) located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1992. He went on to complete his Preliminary Medicine internship and Psychiatry residency there as well. Dr. Stevens is board certified in Psychiatry by the National Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and treats adult and geriatric patients. Dr. Bruce Stevens has been in practice for 22 years. For the first 14 years of his career, he was a solo practitioner in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During those years, he gained a significant amount of experience providing outpatient care, inpatient psychiatric treatment, consult-liaison services, and nursing home work. Dr. Stevens has spent the last 8 years as the Medical Director for Bon Secours Health System inpatient psychiatry units (St. Mary's Hospital and Richmond Community Hospital). Dr. Stevens has held many esteemed positions throughout his career, including Co-medical Director for Behavioral Health with Bon Secours Medical Group, Chairman of the department of Psychiatry at Richmond Community Hospital, Medical Director of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) at Bon Secours, Associate Medical Director of the Adult and Geriatric Inpatient Units at Roger's Memorial Hospital, Vice Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at St. Michael Hospital, Section Chief of the Section of Psychiatry at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center and Director of the Psychocutaneous Clinic at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Additionally, he has served over a decade as Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine for the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Stevens has accumulated many awards of excellence throughout his career, among them being awarded Top Doctor, by Milwaukee Magazine 12 yrs in a row (selected as one of extremely few psychiatrists in the Milwaukee metropolitan area by physician peers and nurses).
Dr. Bruce Stevens has established a new outpatient practice in Midlothian, VA where he specializes in adult psychiatry. His direct-pay practice model emphasizes providing top quality and comprehensive psychiatric care along with: little or no waiting time in the office; added availability; longer appointment sessions in an unhurried atmosphere; the option of online sessions; online prescription refills; and convenient appointment scheduling. Additionally, there are (limited) weekend appointments offered. Instead of treatment being guided and dictated by insurance carriers, he is better able to use his clinical expertise and experience in an effort to getting you get better and in an expeditious manner. This direct-pay model does not rely on insurance co-pays, deductibles, or co-insurance fees in order to reduce overhead expenses and keep his fees lower. He believes this model of psychiatric care gives you the most value for your health care dollar.
Dr. Bruce Stevens is a psychiatrist, a primary care doctor for the mind.
