Dr. Lefkowitz is a summa cum laude graduate of the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, where he earned his Medical Degree. As a student at SUNY, he was honored with the prestigious Andrew T. Salzberg Award for Superior Achievement in Medical Studies. His medical internship was completed at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park. Dr. Lefkowitz attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey to complete a residency in dermatology. In his final year, he was appointed Chief Resident in Dermatology.To further his postgraduate training, Dr. Lefkowitz served a one-year fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at East Setauket University Hospital, NY. This is an American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology (ACMMSCO) approved program for Mohs. Mohs Micrographic Surgery is an advanced treatment procedure for skin cancer, which offers the highest cure rate while preserving healthy tissue, thus minimizing scarring and aesthetic impact. Dr. Lefkowitz has authored over a dozen peer-reviewed research papers and presentations on skin cancer and advanced dermatological laser treatments.Dr. Lefkowitzs practice is primarily surgical.
