After graduating magna cum laude from Westminster College, I went on to complete my medical degree at Oregon Health & Sciences University in 2004. I completed a 5 year general & plastic surgery residency at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, with the final two years devoted entirely to plastic surgery. During this time, I had the opportunity to work alongside top breast surgeons at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, learning advanced techniques for aesthetic & reconstructive breast surgery. After my residency, I furthered my cosmetic surgery training, completing a year of fellowships in Aesthetic Surgery and Fat Grafting in Miami.
Since 2010, I’ve been in private practice, specializing in cosmetic breast enhancement, liposuction and body contouring, buttock enhancement, and facial rejuvenation. I strongly felt that to be the best at what I do, it was important to become focused exclusively in cosmetic surgery, with the patient experience as top priority. Because of this, I have developed a boutique practice that allows me to give personalized care to each and every one of my patients. During this time, I have served two Clinical Teaching Appointments and continued to further my experience with participation at national conferences and meetings.
Plastic surgeons perform a wide variety of surgeries that can restore or correct the form and function of the human body, which can be either cosmetic or reconstructive in nature. Dr. Bekanich is able to correct abnormalities of the body that may be causing adverse health effects, or perform surgeries to correct malformations caused by birth defects, trauma, tumors or disease. She also performs elective surgeries, which patients undergo to improve the aesthetic appearance of a certain body part.
