Bio


Amanda M. Jacobs, MD is a board-certified specialist in adolescent medicine as well as in general pediatrics. She is the Adolescent Medicine Specialist at Pediatrics on Hudson, a private practice pediatrics group in Westchester, NY. Her clinical expertise focuses on the treatment of a wide range of medical and mental health issues, including adolescent gynecology & menstrual issues, contraception, eating disorders, medication treatment of depression/anxiety, LGBTQ inclusive care and adolescent primary/preventative care. Dr. Jacobs work has lectured regionally and nationally numerous times and has published extensively on issues related to Adolescent Medicine. Prior to going into private practice in 2018, Dr. Jacobs served as the Director of Health Services of Sheltering Arms, a New York City agency focused on the care of children in foster care and juvenile justice. Dr. Jacobs has extensive experience in adolescent reproductive health, particularly around contraception and pregnancy. Until 2016, she was the Founder and Director of the Intrauterine Device (IUD) and Contraceptive Implant Service at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, where she was Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. In this capacity, she taught medical students, residents and adolescent medicine fellows and presented numerous lectures, seminars and workshops both regionally and nationally since 2007. Dr. Jacobs earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry with honors from Lehigh University in 1994 and her MD degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1999. She completed her pediatrics residency at Montefiore Medical Center and her fellowship in adolescent medicine at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in 2006. Outside of this training, she has worked in juvenile justice and foster care health centers, private practice, academic medicine and both college health and high school health.
