Dr. Alin Lina Akopians is a passionate physician driven by her love for medicine, volunteer work, and patient services. Having recently finished her accelerated two-year Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI) fellowship program at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), she has conducted research on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and egg freezing.
Dr. Akopians is interested in the future of reproductive services, family planning, and the understanding of the endocrine system. Additionally, she is committed to her education and is eager to pass on her devotion to learning as a professor at UCLA Extension, in addition to helping patients become parents at Southern California Reproductive Center (SCRC).
Dr. Akopians received her Bachelors and Masters in Physiological Science as well as her Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology from UCLA. She subsequently completed her medical training at Albany Medical College in New York then returned to Los Angeles for her OB/GYN Residency program at UCLA. Then she completed her REI Fellowship training at the UCLA/Cedars-Sinai program.
In addition to a multitude of scholarships, Dr. Akopians is further recognized by receiving special honors and awards including Magna Cum Laude from UCLA for her undergraduate studies, the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) recognition for her medical education, the Arthur Hengerer, M.D. Award for excellence in GYN surgery at Albany Medical College, and the Special Resident in Minimal Invasive Gynecological Surgery Award at UCLA OB/GYN residence program. Furthermore, Dr. Akopians has authored and co-authored numerous publications covering a range of reproductive and prenatal related topics.
Fluent in Armenian, Farsi and English, Dr. Akopians is dedicated to continuously improving her well-crafted skills to provide the best services for her clients.
Reproductive endocrinologists provide care that specializes in the hormonal aspects of infertility and reproduction. Dr. Akopians is trained to deal with issues relating to infertility, menstrual disorders, sexual dysfunction, menopause and hormonal imbalances, among other complications that can affect the body's ability to reproduce safely (both men and women may be treated). Reproductive endocrinologists work very closely with patients toward the ultimate goal of bringing a healthy baby into the world.
