Which facial features can an ExpresS-Lift improve?

Some people shy away from the traditional facelift procedure because of the accompanying pain and swelling, and long recovery time. However, the ExpresS Lift is a surgical procedure that can give you similar results, but with less pain and downtime.

Facial Aging

Loss of facial fat and sagging skin, are two of the most common signs of facial aging. For many years, facelift surgery has been the treatment of choice for reversing these signs. However, within the last two decades, new facelift techniques have emerged, which have made facial rejuvenation less intensive, and have also been able to provide superior results. The ExpresS Lift is one of those techniques.

The ExpresS Lift

The ExpresS Lift is a minimum incision facelift that has been refined by Dr. Robert Langdon of the Langdon Center for Laser and Cosmetic Surgery, Guilford, CT. The procedure has been dubbed the ExpresS Lift because of the relatively short recovery time required, when compared to the more well-known surgical facelift.

The ExpresS Lift is designed to decrease the most noticeable signs of aging. Over time the sun, age, and gravity all reduce the elasticity and firmness of the skin, and contribute to the formation of lines and wrinkles. The ExpresS Lift is designed to restore the youthful contours of the lower face and neck.

The incisions for the ExpresS Facelift are much shorter than the ones used for a traditional facelift, and the procedure is done under local anesthesia. This is particularly beneficial, as there is less bleeding during the operation and post-procedural bruising and swelling is minimized.

About the procedure

After anesthesia is administered, a small incision is made at the front of the ears. The sagging fascia layer below the skin is lifted in a vertical direction and then repositioned. Excess fat and skin is also removed, so as to achieve a more youthful facial appearance.

The recovery time with the Express Lift is much shorter than with the traditional facelift, because the technique used minimizes bruising and swelling.

The ExpresS Lift normally takes 3-4 hours to perform.

What facial features can an ExpresS-Lift Improve?

The ExpresS Lift improves the appearance of the lower third of the face. It therefore focuses on the midface, lower cheeks, chin, and neck. The ExpresS Lift can improve the appearance of the cheeks and jowls, tighten the lower face and neck, and refine the chin and neckline.

The ExpresS Lift can also reduce lines and wrinkles in the lower face, and minimize deep creases and folds. It can therefore make nasolabial folds less visible.

Are you a good candidate?

If you are just beginning to shows signs of facial aging in the lower part of the face, you may be a good candidate for the ExpresS Lift. You should be otherwise physically healthy, and have realistic expectations about surgery.

Having a facelift as soon as you see the first signs of age usually offers results that are subtle, and less obvious. However, the ExpresS lift can yield impressive results for older candidates with mild to moderate facial sagging, as long as they are in good health.

What to expect

There is generally some swelling and bruising after the procedure, but this generally resolves quickly. Most people feel well enough to return to work within 3-4 days. Some improvement can be seen within a few days of the procedure, but full results can take 3-4 weeks.

Benefits

Skin rejuvenation options like the ExpresS Facelift are designed to revitalize the appearance, creating an outcome that looks natural and subtle. A good facelift will make you look younger and refreshed, not different. The technique used to perform the ExpresS Lift ensures that there is no unnecessary pulling of the facial skin.

On the other hand, traditional facelift focuses on stretching and tightening loose skin. This often results in patients having a windblown, unnatural look after surgery.
