What is Enhanced ActiveFX™ Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Would you like to get your complexion looking brighter and healthier? ActiveFX™ skin resurfacing is an ablative carbon dioxide laser treatment by Lumenis® that can help you achieve your aesthetic goals. ActiveFX™ uses fractional technology to restore the health and beauty of your skin, so that you can proudly show off your rejuvenated appearance.

What is ActiveFX™ COLaser Skin Resurfacing?

ActiveFX™ resurfacing is a fractional CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser light treatment that tightens and rejuvenates the skin on the face and neck. It is widely used by dermatologists to improve skin tone and texture, as well as to firm and tighten loose skin.

The CO2 laser is considered one of the most effective skin rejuvenation options because it addresses multiple skin concerns, and produces dramatic results.

ActiveFX™ treats the signs of aging, but it can also improve your complexion by correcting skin issues such as acne scars, dark spots, large pores, and other irregularities on the face and neck. Click here to learn more about Lumenis® ActiveFX™ on the manufacturer’s website.

“Enhanced” ActiveFX™

The enhanced ActiveFX™ resurfacing treatment provides superior results to those achieved with the standard ActiveFX™ laser.  The treatment was developed by Dr. Robert Langdon of The Langdon Center for Laser & Cosmetic Surgery in Guilford, CT. Only one treatment is required with the enhanced ActiveFX™ resurfacing, in order to gain maximum results.

Dr. Langdon enhances the ActiveFX™ laser, by adjusting the rate at which the scanner delivers CO2 energy to the skin. Increasing the power settings allows more heat to be delivered to the dermal layer of the skin, and the skin tightening is therefore more dramatic.

How It Works

When performing fractional CO2 laser resurfacing, a topical anesthetic is applied at the start of the procedure to minimize any discomfort. The laser penetrates down to the dermal layer where the collagen fibers are, and as it heats up the layers, new collagen forms over the following months. The new collagen improves the elasticity of the skin, and also strengthens the underlying structures.

The fractional laser targets 80% of the skin, and the remaining 20% is left untreated. The laser creates microscopic holes in the skin, which are surrounded by regions that are not damaged. These areas help to accelerate healing time, so recovery takes place at a much faster rate when compared to ablative lasers that treat the entire surface area of the skin during treatment.

How ActiveFX™ Helps Your Complexion

  • Eliminates old, sun damaged skin. When old skin cells hang around on the surface, they make your complexion dull and lifeless, and this tends to make you appear older than you are. Enhanced ActiveFX™ causes new skin cells and extra collagen to spring up, so your complexion looks radiant and refreshed, and you look younger as well
  • Improves skin tone and texture. Only a fraction of the skin is removed during Active FX skin resurfacing treatment, and as the skin regenerates your complexion will look vibrant and more radiant.
  • Reduces wrinkles and acne scars. The stimulation that occurs in the dermal layer of the skin encourages new skin cells to develop. The new skin is smooth and unblemished.
  • It’s customizable. ActiveFX™ skin resurfacing can be customized to deal with your specific skin concerns.
  • Results are long term.  Since ActiveFX™ stimulates collagen production, skin rejuvenation continues for several months after treatment.
