Bio


Dr. Thomas Chopp was raised in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1984. He served in the Air Force as a flight surgeon for four years, caring for military pilots and their families. He then completed an orthopaedic surgery residcency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in 1995 and went on to provide orthopaedic surgical care for the Air Force at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Dr. Chopp then completed specialized fellowship training at the Hughston Sports Medicine Foundation in Columbus, Georgia in 2000 with selected emphasis on shoulder surgery and received the Hughston Shoulder Certificate.

Dr. Chopp is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of orthopaedic surgery. He has practiced orthopaedic surgery for the past 25 years and is now serving the Treasure Valley and the Tri-state Area. His main office is in Boise, Idaho. 

Dr. Chopp has extensive training and experience in treatment of the athlete's shoulder from youth to the active adult. Over the past twenty years, Dr. Chopp has provided care of shoulder fractures, traumatic soft tissue injuries, and sports related injuries of the entire shoulder complex; to include all-arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and instability procedures. For the arthritic and rotator cuff deficient shoulder, Dr. Chopp provides both non-operative and surgical treatment to include superior capsular reconstruction and partial, total, and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty.
