Dr. Sherman Yu is an experienced board-certified bariatric surgeon at Texas Laparoscopic Consultants in Houston, TX, which he co-founded. Dr. Yu is a Bariatric Center of Excellence Surgeon and has been recognized as one of America’s Top Surgeons by Consumers Research Council of America. He offers a range of bariatric surgery, including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and weight loss surgery revision. Dr. Yu also specializes in non-surgical weight loss procedures such as gastric balloon,  endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), and medically supervised weight loss.

A Houston native, Dr. Yu graduated with High Honors in Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his medical degree with honors in his surgical rotations from Baylor College of Medicine. While performing his surgical training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Dr. Yu took an interest in minimally invasive techniques for bariatric procedures and completed fellowship training in single incision surgery.

Dr. Yu is dedicated to helping each patient have a positive experience and a successful outcome on their journey to wellness. He is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. He continues to research new technologies and innovations in weight loss surgery to ensure that his patients receive the best care possible.
