In December 2016 I was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer and Dr. Eldaif was recommended by my pulmonologist to perform the procedure to remove the top lobe of my right lung. Needless to say, I was terrified at the time, but did my research on the procedure and familiarized myself with what the surgery would entail, which was not a pleasant picture. I met with Dr. Eldaif and immediately started asking the very long list of questions I had written down. Dr. Eldaif very patiently answered every question thoroughly and explained in great detail exactly what he would be doing, recovery time, any possible complications, etc. He explained that the surgery would be done robotically so it was far less invasive. The surgery went extremely well, I was discharged three days later rather than the 7-10 hospital stay if the procedure had been done differently. Other than the chest tube that was inserted for two days, I had very little pain or discomfort during my hospital stay. Once discharged, I was up and about in just a couple of days at home with continued rest. Not once from the time I met him until my 4 month follow up appointment did I ever feel he was talking down to me, rushing to carry on with his day or in any way devalued my concerns. If you, who is reading this either for your own information or for someone you know needs any type of thoracic surgery, this is the doctor you want to have on your side.
