The first time I met the doc was under emergency circumstances. A lady at a clinic spotted my swollen ankles and away I went. When I met Dr. Baradarian, I was too filled with meds to pronounce his name, so he leaned in and gently said, "Just call me Sam." Four years later, my valve didn't last as long as they had hoped and I was back for a consult before receiving a cow valve. He stepped into the exam room and asked, "Do you remember me?" If you've ever seen the movie, Road House, where a bar maid realizes who she's talking to, the famous bouncer, I reacted just like that girl. I thought to myself, "Dude! You only saved my life!" but I managed to keep my composure and I just said, "Yes! You're Dr. Baradarian, and this time, I can say your name!" He drew a picture of my valve on his scrub while he was briefing me and I thought, this guy's just like my dad. You could put him in a tent and he'd still do the same high quality job. He's not about trappings. He's about saving lives.
