Dr. Burton is an ivasive cardiologist who performs procedures that require an instrument/device (pacemaker, catheter, needle, etc) to be inserted into the body to perform a diagnostic test or to treat a disease or condition found from a diagnostic.
As an electrophysiologist, Dr. Burton has additional training in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
Dr. Burton has significant expertise with the following procedures:Electrophysiology study with or without Ablation (EP Study, EPS), Automatic Cardioverter Defibrillator Implantation: (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators [ICD], Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator [AICD], Pacemaker Insertion, and Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE).
Dr. Burton is a medical graduate from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia (1987). He completed his residency at the University of Alabama Hospitals, Birmingham, Alabama (1990). Dr. Burton completed fellowships in general cardiology and electrophysiology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia (1994).
Dr. Burton is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiac Electrophysiology.
