I was inpatient at Banner University Hospital Phoenix (GSH) after having gynecological surgery. I was in the process of having a new catheter placed before being discharged. I was post-op with bruising and swelling (which is normal) and being a petite person, the nurses were having difficulty (thru no fault of their own). My Dr was in surgery at another hospital. The supervising nurse asked Dr. Smrekar , who was on the floor at the time, to help; she quickly inserted the tube into the bladder and then began to ask if I was ok, needed pain med or anything. This all happened while there was great interference from the husband in the other bed (kept coming in and out of the room behind the curtain). I would recommend her to anyone since I learned first hand how competent and experienced she actually is. Even in a very frustrating situation, she remained calm, professional, and very caring toward me throughout the entire situation. Very caring, obviously competent, and nice human being!
