Dr Chronister practices general Orthopaedics which includes treatment of all types of sports related injuries, arthritic conditions, and complex traumatic injuries of the extremities.  Additionally, he specializes in less invasive and arthroscopic surgical techniques for conditions of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and hip.  Dr. Chronister has a keen interest in the management of cartilage and soft tissue injuries of athletes, as well as partial and total joint replacement of the knee and shoulder.Under the expert tutelage of Drs. James Andrews, Lyle Cain, Jeffrey Dugas, and Benton Emblom at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center Dr. Chronister’s training focused on the management of complex sports injuries in elite level athletes and overhead throwers.  As a result, he performs ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction in the elbow (Tommy John’s surgery), arthroscopic shoulder surgery for labral and rotator cuff tears, meniscal repair ACL and multi-ligamentous reconstruction of the knee, cartilage preservation, patellar stabilization procedures, arthroscopic management of non-arthritic hip conditions, and minimally invasive repair of athletic pubalgia sports hernia).Dr. Chronister offers customized Orthopaedic care with a focus on educating his patients on management options and close attention through the recovery process.  His goal is to preserve or repair his patients’ tissue whenever possible and to return his patient to their pre-injury level of activity.After graduating high school in Houston, Dr. Chronister attended the University of Texas in Austin where he studied mechanical engineering and molecular biology, earning a Bachelor of Science degree.  In 2004, he returned to Houston to attend medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center located in the Texas Medical Center and remained in the Houston area to complete his 5 years of Orthopaedic residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch.Following his Orthopaedic training Dr. Chronister accepted a fellowship in sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama, under the direction of James R. Andrews M.D. and the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center   While training at the ASMI he participated in the side line and clinical care of several D-1 collegiate programs including The Auburn University and The University of Alabama. He has also cared for the Tuskegee University, the Birmingham Barons-a White Sox AA baseball affiliate, the WWE, MMA, USA Cheer, Birmingham Ballet, and multiple high school football programs in Alabama and Houston.Dr. Chronister has authored research papers that focused on elbow and shoulder injuries in athletes, as well as biomechanical testing of modern surgical techniques for UCL injuries in throwers and biceps tenodesis in the shoulder.  He has presented his research at multiple local and national Orthopaedic conferences   He also holds several fellow memberships including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) and the Arthroscopic Association of North America (AANA) Dr. Chronister is very happy to have returned to Texas to join the Orthopaedic Associates of Houston as a general Orthopaedics and sports medicine specialist.  Dr. Chronister works at hospitals in the downtown, galleria, and northwest Houston areas.  When not working, he enjoys weight training, cross fit, running, hiking, soccer, golf, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
