About Dr. Chepke
Dr. Chepke

Bio

Dr. Chepke grew up in Charlotte, NC, and attended Duke University for his undergraduate studies, with a major in chemistry. He went to the NYU School of Medicine and returned to Duke for his psychiatric training. He has worked in hospital-based adult outpatient clinics, inpatient adult, and medical-psychiatry inpatient units, and has served as medical director of a geriatric psychiatry unit, and of a Substance Abuse IOP. He founded his private practice, Excel Psychiatric Associates, with his wife Tiffany Chepke, LCSW in 2012 in Kannapolis, NC, and moved the practice to Huntersville, NC in June 2017. Dr. Chepke also currently serves as medical director for a level 3 residential psychosocial rehabilitation program for troubled adolescent males. He is deeply interested in psychopharmacology, and enjoys employing cutting edge medications such as VMAT2 inhibitors and serotonin inverse agonists, but also older, underutilized treatments such as MAOIs, lithium and clozapine, and is a member of the CLOSZE Panel (Clozapine in Schizophrenia Experts). He also believes in strong emphasis in engaging his patients in psychotherapy and encouraging physical health and wellness. He sees patients in his office practice from 18 years old through the geriatric population in all diagnostic categories, but has particular interests in the overlap of psychiatric conditions with neuromuscular disorders (Tardive Dyskinesia, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, etc.), as well as treatment-resistant and severe persistent mental illness.
