Dr. Cagande is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. In addition to being the Residency Program Director, she is also the Medical School Phase 1 Neurology -Psychiatry Co-Course Director. She did her general psychiatry residency at Cooper University Hospital and her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.
Dr Cagande has always had a strong interest in academia since residency. She enjoys teaching medical students and residents. She has been awarded the Arnold Gold Award for Excellence in Teaching and Humanism and is a member of the Arnold Gold Honor Society. Her main specialty interests are medical education, Women’s Health, anxiety, trauma and disaster preparedness. She has also worked on cultural psychiatry topics, including global child and adolescent psychiatry. She is currently involved in research and has published and presented at local, regional, national and international conferences.
She is currently the New Jersey Psychiatric Association (NJPA) President (2015 – 2017). Dr Cagande has also been involved in community service/organizations. She is a past president of the Philippine American Medical Society of New Jersey, currently Chairs the Philippine Community of Southern New Jersey Scholarship Committee and volunteers at her church to feed the Camden City homeless.
